Those were also the days when it cost about $60 to enter Florida Challenge. Times have changed.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

First post was about how 10-15 years ago there were 45 women in my age group and the cost of Fl. Challenge being $60.

    Hey FM,

I did my first tri. a long time ago. I think I was 17 or 18. And since I never did a bike/run in training, I thought my legs were going to collapse on the run. After that, I said never again. But I tried again in 1999 and did Gulf Coast Triathlon. I also did Mad Beach that year and that was the end b/c my shin splints were too painful to continue running. I did 1 or 2 Clermont sprints around 2000 or 2001 and then again stopped because of sore shins. In Dec. 2006, I finally found shoes that greatly reduced the shin pain and I've been running ever since. I had to take 6 weeks off after GFT 2007 because my longest training run for that was 16 miles when I should have run 21. When I tried to do the full distance in the event, I suffered an IT-band injury. I may have done 6 or 7 tri's in 2007, 10 in 2008, 3 in 2009 (The Triple Crown offered by Sommer Sports) and 0 so far this year.

You're not in a lazy man's sport anymore! I bet your softball pals are jealous.

tri animal -- I had horrible IT band issues after the Charlotte marathon -- tons of hills and the streets are all crowned so lots of off set in a stride-- it took 2 months for me to feel comfortable running over 10 k again

i think i found a source of one of the glitches---- when i hit enter for a new paragraph my comments dissapear like the code is written to enter it like a post then the post button executes that command (although I see other spaces between lines on others posts) my enter button (and KARs might be different -----test --- i will hit enter after this sentence and continue with another sentence to see what happens........

did this appear???? or is it eliminated from 'enter????

FM: So, you can really relate to IT-band issues, eh? I have to increase my mileage gradually and I have to run at 20-21 miles to make sure I don't get IT-band problems. I never know from year to year whether I'll be able to do GFT successfully.

I have no idea how this forum works anymore. And I don't think it's being monitored because I haven't seen anything about anyone winning race entries.
